Obituary of Eva Hale Westerman

Please share a memory of Eva to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eva Hale Rennie Westerman August 22, 1928 – January 30, 2022 The family of Eve Westerman (née Rennie) are deeply saddened to share the news of her passing. “Eve” was taken into God’s loving embrace as she passed away peacefully in her home in New Glasgow on the afternoon of Sunday January 30, 2022. She was a daughter of the late Arthur Rennie and Victoria May Rennie (Hale) originally of Westville. She is survived by her loving daughters, Cheryl Lays of Plymouth, Dorothy-Jill Westerman of Yellowknife, April (Scott) Faulkner of Middle Sackville, step-son Darryl(Donna) of Shorts Lake, her twelve grandchildren and fifteen great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents Eve was pre-deceased by her husband William (Bill), her sisters, Elsie Cameron and Dorothy Delmotte; her daughter Vicki (Harvey) MacLeod and her step-sons Peter and Billy Westerman. Eve was a friend to anyone who met her. She had an infectious smile, a loving and kind heart, and the ability to turn a quick hello into a forty minute conversation. She loved being around people, chatting with friends, and, of course, listening to her talented daughters, Cheryl and Vicki as they performed in various festivals and shows around the county. She was a long-standing member of the St. George’s Anglican Church’s parish bell choir and the church choir; a member of the YMCA in New Glasgow, and her social life existed there weekly on her treadmill. When the treadmill became difficult for her, she could be seen walking the perimeter of the Y auditorium using her walker, and collecting her sticks with each lap. Eve will be remembered and cherished for her kindness, her quick wit, and the true pride she exuded for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her home was a place filled with love and good memories. She will be forever cherished and missed by her best friend Dot, her morning tea partner who was so helpful to Eve. The family would like to thank Rhonda Thompson and Jane Horton who were Eva's Personal Care Workers, who provided 24 hour care, love and support while Eva was at home, as well as the VON for being so kind and caring over the past several years. Heartfelt thanks to the Pharmacists at Lawton's and to Dr. Eriakha, her family doctor. A private visitation and funeral will be held from the H.W. Angus Funeral home, New Glasgow Sunday February 6, 2022 at 3pm. The service will be live streamed via the H.W. Angus Funeral Home facebook page. A celebration of Eve’s Life will be held at a later date. In Eve’s memory, please consider making a donation to St. Georges Anglican Church, New Glasgow or to the Canadian Diabetic Association or to a charity of your choice. angusfuneralhomes.com
