Obituary of Ena Mable MacLeod

Please share a memory of Ena to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ena Mable MacLeod April 20th, 1953 – April 1st, 2023 With great sorrow and gratitude for a life well lived, the MacLeod, Hale and Mansour families announce the passing of our kind, brave, caring and unimaginably generous wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Ena Mable MacLeod. Ena was the “darling” daughter of the late J. Henry R. MacLeod and Beryl V. (Ross) MacLeod. Born in New Glasgow on April 20, 1953, Ena had the ability to shine light into even the darkest room. Her smile and twinkling eyes will be remembered by all who knew her. Henry and Beryl instilled in all their children a very strong sense of family, something that surrounded Ena even into her final hours. Ena was an example of strength and perseverance. She raised her two sons, Chad and Chris Hale, as a single mother. She spent many years in the rinks watching from the stands with pride as her boys travelled near and far playing the sport they loved. She was very proud of all their accomplishments. After 30 years of loving her, Art Mansour tells the story that he finally got the courage to ask her out. Since that day 23 ½ years ago, they have been inseparable loving partners. Besides her devoted partner, Art Mansour, Ena is survived by her adoring sons Chad Hale (Joanne) and Chris Hale (Erin); three beautiful granddaughters, who were the light of her life – Brooke Hale, Summer Hale and Emerson Hale. The three girls will always remember the heartfelt time they spent with their Nanny at the hospital when they serenaded her with “You are My Sunshine”; Art’s children, Darren, Shawn, Ardyth & Shelley; her loving brothers, John MacLeod (Kathy), Norman MacLeod (Anne), adoring sisters, Janice Fraser (Tom) and Heather MacLean (Barry); her very special sister-in-law, Virginia MacLeod, (Ena & Ginny were known as “Grace & Frankie” by those closest to them, because of their deep friendship and many escapades which would keep everyone in their presence in stitches), many nieces and nephews, who always looked up to their beautiful Aunt who always made each and every one of them feel special. She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers Danny MacLeod and Cedric MacLeod. Ena had many successful careers during her lifetime; being Personnel Manager of Zellers right out of school; Head of Human Resources at Clairtone; and finally retiring after 34 years as head of HR with Neenah Paper. At one time, she was Secretary of the Union and excelled in negotiations. She also served on the Pictou District School Board in earlier years. There will be no visitation or funeral at the request of Ena. There will be a private Celebration of Life held on her upcoming birthday, which would have been her 70th Birthday. Ena passed away with grace, having concern only for her family. She will be missed more than we can say but will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
