Roger was a truly great man and a natural leader. What a role model and definition of a community man. His family came first, but he gave endlessly to Canada & community. Roger led a life of service, first through the military and later through numerous organizations and always being 1st to raise his hand to volunteer. A great Canadian who will be surely missed by all. I felt truly honoured to know him & to hold his confidence. I send deep condolences to all his loved ones. The magnitude of his loss is a measure of the gift of his life.
With regrets,
Peter MacKay

Joy and I were saddened to hear of Roger's death. Roger was a navy guy through and through. He rarely missed our Admiral Murray Naval Association monthly meetings and dinners. It was a real blessing for me to see his infectious smile and laughter.
He will be sorely missed.
We will be remembering you in in our thoughts and prayers as you celebrate his life and adjust to living without your loved one.

Condolences to the family of Roger. I remember meeting Roger in 97 or 98 as a cadet officer when I joined 41 Royal William in Pictou and he was with 87 Admrial Murray in New Glasgow. I always remember him being very friendly and always there to help when needed. Then fast forward a few years to 2001 when I was a staff cadet at HMCS Acadia where I got to work with Roger in the Duty department Where Roger was Sr Duty and again was always smiling and always there to help. Roger will be messed by many Fair winds and following seas, sir we have the watch.

Lt(N) Brown was always there to call out bad choices when I was at HMCS Acadia as a cadet, staff cadet, and who I am I kidding, a young officer. He helped keep so many of us on track, but was always there with praise and a smile too. He was one of those officers you had confidence that they knew what they were doing, and were going to keep you safe, but challenge you to grow. He was such a good man who helped spread good out into the world
